‘side notes’ depicts two urban soundscapes and eventually immerses itself in the sound worlds hidden from the human ear. Field recordings merge in a composition of the underwater world of the Gießenbach in Höttinger Au and a symphony of vibrations and electromagnetic waves from the motorway bridges, railway tracks and the substation behind the Westbahnhof in Wilten. The 14-channel installation accompanies photographs by artist Verena Nagl of the two Innsbruck districts.
In reference to ‘Das Goldene Dachl’, the two artists travelled with their project ‘Der Goldene Stachl’ (a mobile urban lab) to two randomly selected areas outside the centre of Innsbruck. Through a detailed zoom-in using different artistic strategies, existing structures and conditions were explored and site-specific interventions were developed.
